Republic Day is celebrated with great zeal and zest across the country on January 26 every year.

Also known as ‘Gantantra Divas’ in Hindi, Republic Day is observed because the Constitution of India came into effect on this day in 1950, replacing the Government of India Act (1935).

To mark this day India honours all the achievements of the country in the past year. A military parade is held to showcase the might of India’s military and honouring those who chose to serve the nation with their life.
